Several new Florida manufacturing jobs will soon be created as one company focuses on green technology and doubling its physical footprint.
The Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast recently announced that Guardian Manufacturing Inc. will add up to 40 new jobs during the next two years. Guardian currently employs 60 workers at its 25,000-square-foot facility in Cocoa, and some existing workers have been relocated to a new facility.
The company plans to hire at least 10 people this year to help staff a new 24,000-square-foot facility worth $1.8 million. Many of these jobs will have an average annual salary of $55,000 and include positions for engineers, fabricators and technicians.
To help further its efforts, Guardian also will receive an eight-year tax abatement from Brevard County, worth about $55,000, and a two-year abatement from Cocoa, worth about $8,000.
Guardian harnesses ozone molecules in its ozone generator systems. It creates ozone integrated systems used for waste and water treatment, as well as laundry systems. The company has clients such as The Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin and Owens Corning. It also sells technology for operating theme park rides.
Some other companies also are looking into what Brevard County has to offer. According to an article by Business Matters, three companies are considering plans to hire almost 70 new workers and invest $46 million in new construction and equipment.
NewSpace Center LLC wants to build a research headquarters on 40 acres of Space Coast Regional Airport property in Titusville. The company projects a $1 million payroll that would consist of 25 workers earning an average salary of $40,000 per year.
LS Enterprises, which makes aluminum cases, is looking into moving from the United Kingdom to West Melbourne and investing $1 million in an industrial park near the Melbourne International Airport. The company would hire 12 workers with average salaries of $56,800 per year.
United Service Source Inc. is proposing a 17,000-square-foot expansion for a technical operations center, office space and parking. The company’s payroll would increase from 110 to 140 workers within 18 months, and new hires would earn an average yearly salary of $42,000.
