Florida Construction Jobs and Others Created by Biofuel Headquarters

Some Florida construction jobs and other permanent positions could be created when the state welcomes a new biofuel facility.

New Generation Biofuels has announced the company will locate their corporate headquarters in Lake Mary, Fla. The company, which creates fuel used to power generation and other applications, has agreed to create at least 20 new jobs and a significant participant in Gov. Charlie Crist’s renewable energy strategy.

“Florida is stepping onto the world stage as a major marketplace for advanced energy technologies,” Crist said in a press release. “We are excited about New Generation Biofuels establishing their headquarters in Florida, and we look forward to their being a part of Florida’s renewable energy future.”

The new jobs with New Generation Biofuels will be high-paying and created within the next two years. The company also plans to take steps and establish relationships with local academic and business community leaders to help Florida’s position as a renewable energy leader.

“Central Florida offers many of the things we were looking for in establishing our new headquarters,” David A. Gillespie, President and CEO of New Generation Biofuels, said in the press release. “An available diverse and talented workforce, proximity to educational and research institutions, access to major population centers and the markets we intend to serve, and quality of life for our employees were all important considerations. Central Florida provides all of these and more.”

The project was headed by Enterprise Florida and the Economic Development Council.
